Louis DeVaughn Nelson is a multidisciplinary artist and founder of The Hokum Arts Production Group. His works have been shown in many venues in the USA and Europe, from ballets to fine art exhibitions. Nelson was named Best New Choreographer by Philadelphia City Paper and has been recognized for his video work that delves into cultural and movement research. He studied dance and play writing at DeSales University and Drexel University, and has over seven years of experience teaching dance at The Haddonfield School of Dance (New Jersey, USA), The Koresh School of Dance (Philadelphia, USA), The University of the Arts (Philadelphia, USA) and Studio Motion (Berlin, DE).
Recent credits include working extensively as producer and choreographer for The Peek-A-Boo Revue (Philadelphia’s premiere burlesque troupe), producing multidisciplinary shows for The Philadelphia Live Arts & Fringe Festival, The Philadelphia LGBT Festival, The Philadelphia Dance Collective, The CEC New Edge Mix Festival, The Hybridge Arts Collective and more. Nelson recently won the 3rd place prize for his movement research film entitled "Youbahn" in the CIANT Festival of Film and New Media Art in Prague.
